IDC joins forces with INNOVEX 2026 to power MSME growth

The Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) has officially partnered with INNOVEX 2026, an enterprise development summit designed to bridge the gap between emerging businesses and development finance. The two-day event takes place at the Ben Marais Hall in Rustenburg and is expected to bring together roughly 600 entrepreneurs and micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) under one roof.

Attendance is free, which means business owners can engage directly with government representatives, industry leaders and development finance institutions. The focus is on unlocking commercial growth, encouraging innovative investment models and driving long-term job creation.

The partnership recognises that access to capital is only part of the picture. To succeed, emerging enterprises also need to build production capacity, adopt modern technology, upskill their workers and meet strict corporate procurement standards. The summit will address these needs through discussions across four strategic sectors: Future Energy and Clean Technologies, Future Water and Circular Economy, Future Sustainable Food Systems, and Future Digital and Smart Industries.

A central goal is to accelerate inclusive economic participation. Youth-owned, women-led and Black-owned businesses, particularly those in townships and rural communities, often face steep barriers to scaling up. By aligning grassroots enterprise growth with large-scale industrial development, the IDC and INNOVEX 2026 aim to integrate these historically underrepresented businesses into valuable industrial value chains.

Registration is now open to all eligible SMMEs looking to strengthen their operations and secure a foothold in South Africa's future economy.
