Implats partners with INNOVEX 2026 to open industrial pathways for SMMEs

Impala Platinum (Implats) has partnered with INNOVEX 2026, a free two-day enterprise summit in Rustenburg on 26 and 27 November 2026, to connect small businesses with corporate leaders, government and funders. The partnership recognises that a first mining contract doesn’t guarantee survival, so SMMEs also need support, market insight and operational capacity. Implats trained over 1,600 entrepreneurs and supported 400+ small businesses in FY2025, and aims to help local suppliers diversify into growth sectors like clean energy, water, food systems and digital industries.

IDC joins forces with INNOVEX 2026 to power MSME growth

The Industrial Development Corporation has partnered with INNOVEX 2026, a free enterprise summit in Rustenburg that will bring around 600 entrepreneurs and MSMEs face to face with government, industry leaders and development funders. Beyond access to finance, the event tackles what small businesses need to grow, including production capacity, technology, skills and corporate procurement readiness, with a focus on energy, water, food systems and digital industries. Youth-owned, women-led and Black-owned enterprises, especially in townships and rural areas, are a key priority. Registration is open to eligible SMMEs.

A Bumper Harvest, and One in Four Households Still Went Short

South Africa's 2024-25 summer grain and oilseed harvest was estimated at 20.08 million tonnes, up 30% on the year before. In the same period, about one in four households suffered moderate or severe food insecurity. The gap between a good harvest and an affordable meal sits in the chain of storage, processing, transport and retail, most of it run by small businesses. Future Sustainable Food Systems, the second focus of INNOVEX 2026, examines that chain and the energy, water and digital conditions that decide what it costs. The summit takes place on 26 and 27 November at Ben Marais Hall in Rustenburg. About 800 SMEs and entrepreneurs are expected, alongside government, funders, corporates and technical institutions. Attendance is free.
