Implats partners with INNOVEX 2026 to open industrial pathways for SMMEs

Impala Platinum Holdings Limited (Implats) has joined forces with INNOVEX 2026, a free two-day enterprise development summit at the Ben Marais Hall in Rustenburg on 26 and 27 November 2026. The summit will connect grassroots entrepreneurs with corporate leaders, government officials and development financiers.

The partnership responds to a familiar problem: winning a first procurement contract from a mining company doesn't guarantee a small business will survive. To stay competitive and meet corporate standards, SMMEs need institutional support, market intelligence and sustainable operational capacity, and Implats' involvement aims to help close that gap.

The platinum producer brings a solid track record to the table. According to its FY2025 reporting, it trained more than 1,600 entrepreneurs and supported over 400 small businesses. By anchoring its presence at INNOVEX 2026, Implats hopes to expand these development pipelines and help local suppliers diversify beyond traditional mining procurement into fast-growing sectors.

Discussions will centre on four industries: future energy and clean technologies, future water and the circular economy, sustainable food systems, and digital and smart industries. Through its focus on innovation, market access and multisector cooperation, the partnership aims to break down the barriers that hold back small business growth and help South African SMMEs become competitive, sustainable contributors to the economy.
